Overview

La Vanille Nature Park

"The park was created in 1985, and its name honors the old vine cultivated in the valley where the reserve of 5 hectares is located. Mauritian hospitality, conservation of nature, and welfare of the animals are privileged in this magical setting, where our guides will take you on an unforgettable visit of the reserve. e world has an extraordinary diversity of plant and animal species. Unfortunately, many of these are being pushed to extinction as a result of forest clearing, hunting and the introduction by man of invasive species to areas of the world to which they do not belong. Many of these species can now only be saved through efforts to protect their habitat, captive breeding for later reintroduction into the wild and farming to red"

The appeal of Gris Gris lies in it scenery, the high cliffs here drop abruptly to the sea and the refreshing winds of the Indian Ocean blow all year round.

Far away from the idyllic setting of calm seas and the tranquil scenery, is the Gris Gris beach, at the southernmost point of Mauritius. It is a few kilometers southeast of the village of Souillac- a historical village that dates back to the French colonial period.

Gris-Gris is well known for its sea cliffs and offers visitors a magnificent view from the top- this is definitely a sight worth seeing. Coral reefs do not surround this part of the island, which allows large waves to crash directly on the cliffs, creating big splashes of water.

Pinpointing this little gem located on the South West coast of the island because it is truly worth a visit or two! Once there, let your mind drift away in the stunning views it offers – a real feast for the eyes! The Macondé Point is part of one of the most scenic route of Mauritius. In Mauritius’ history, the Macondé Rock served as a shelter for slaves who managed somehow to run away from their masters; nowadays it does not serve any other purpose than being one of the top  photo spot for tourists to stop by while on their road trips to the south of the island.

It is so popular that you might need to expect a crowd on top of the rock; especially during the weekends but we can’t blame anyone as the unobstructed view wins everyone’s heart! You’ll be amazed by how the calming waters of the West coast meet and merge with the wilderness of the south coast.

Le Morne Brabant is one of the most iconic hikes on the island with spectacular views of southwestern corner of the island. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 in recognition of its function as a refuge for freed slaves in the 19th and early 20th century. It served as a vibrant hub for Creole culture for over two centuries. The history of the area is very interesting; more information can be found at UNESCO.
